Audiences are in for a rowdy time when they join the Soady family deer camp in the Red Barn Theatre’s final production of the season, “Escanaba in Love,”

Set during WWII, this is a prequel to the very funny “Escanaba in da Moonlight,” also by Jeff Daniels. Here we are introduced to the Soady family and friends when 18-year-old Albert Soady, Jr., played by Michael Kelly of Rice Lake, celebrates his final hunting season before heading off to war.  He falls head over heels in love with the legendary Big Betty Balou portrayed by Kate Worzala, also of Rice Lake.

Family members grandfather  Alphonse Soady played by Ed Hougdahl of Turtle Lake, Albert Soady, Sr., played by Gregory Johns of Couderay, and family friend Salty Jim played by Paul Baribeau of Rice Lake all have opinions on whether Big Betty has what it takes to join the family.  These hilarious characters are under the capable direction of Rick Snyder of Weyerhaeuser.
