Start tapping your toes now for the Red Barn Theatre’s fourth production, “Honky Tonk Angels” which opens Wednesday, July 31 and runs through Saturday, August 10.  A musical  by Ted Swindley, “Honky Tonk Angels” tells the story of three young women who dare to follow their dreams to Nashville.  Bob Rogers of Chetek directs a talented cast of three who perform over 25 songs.  Rachel Elbin of Cameron directs and leads the music and Ella Rae Olson of Chetek is the choreographer.

Amanda Kutyba (of Rice Lake) plays Sue Ellen an LA secretary who is a ”citified” country girl at heart.  She is joined on stage by Angela, played by Allison Rick (from Barron) who is a fiercely independent Texas housewife and also by young Darlene Purvis portrayed by Ella Rae Olson (Chetek) who hails from the Mississippi Delta. When they all meet on a Nashville bound bus, the gutsy women decide to join forces and take country music by storm with their newly formed singing group, The Honky Tonk Angels.  Among the famous and familiar songs in the musical are 9 to 5, Coal Miner’s Daughter, These Boots Are Made For Walking, Stand By Your Man, Harper Valley PTA and many more.

The RBT gallery will display a selection of works showcasing the artistic journey of local artist Benjamin Howen.  Theatre-goers will be able to view his diverse experimentation with style, subjects and techniques using traditional and digital painting mediums, photography, printmaking and illustration.
