no show Sunday, June 23

Director: Terry Wiesner

Hang onto your hats (or your kilts) for a bumpy ride from Scotland to California with John Campbell, an irascible Scotsman played by Bill Koslofsky and an uptight English woman, Maud Kinch, portrayed by Connie Olson in the Red Barn Theatre’s second production of the summer, “Be My Baby” (June 19–29).  Accomplished director Terry Wiesner sets the pace for famed playwright Ken Ludwig’s comedy and promises you laughs and possibly a tear or two.

It’s 1963, and John and Maud are beseeched by their newlywed wards, Christy (played by Jackson Liedl of Rice Lake) and Gloria (played by Emma McNulty of Cumberland) to travel to San Francisco to pick up a newborn ready for adoption. Really, everything would be fine except John and Maud detest each other.  Versatile RBT veterans Ben Heer and Mary Hankins (both of Rice Lake) play multiple roles in this romp with heart.  Gail Gifford, also of Rice Lake, is the assistant director and also able procurer of specific period set pieces.

Featured in the Red Barn gallery is the stunning photography of Bruce Marsh of Chippewa Falls.  His work can also be seen at the CJ Conner Art Studio in Chetek.
