7:30 pm  nightly

no show Sunday, June 2

Director: Roger Sweeney

“Deathtrap,” the classic comedy-thriller by Ira Levin, will open the summer season of the Red Barn Theatre on May 29 and run through June 8 (with no Sunday performance). Shows begin at 7:30 pm.  Roger Sweeney of Shell Lake, who is very well known to Erika Quam Memorial Theatre audiences, directs a seasoned cast of Hardscrabble Players.  A play within a play, “Deathtrap” was nominated for four Tony Awards and was also adapted into a film starring Michael Caine.

When formerly successful playwright Sidney Bruhl (played Carl Liden of Barron) has several box office flops and faces writer’s block, he “jokingly” tells his wife Myra (Linda Berglund of Spooner) that he is reading a play by his student Clifford Anderson (Ben Heer of Rice Lake) and is tempted to kill Clifford in order to steal the script. Adding to the comedic twisted plot is the appearance of psychic Helga ten Dorp (Rachel Westberg of Chetek) and Sidney’s suspicious attorney Porter Milgrim (Gregory John of Couderay).

In the RBT GALLERY will be an exhibition of 8 Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School advanced placement studio-art artists who have been under the tutelage of CW instructor  Sarah Fredrikson. These diverse young artists collectively redefine the boundaries of contemporary art
